I believe that PR has moved on from the days where our primary expertise was a knowledge of how the media works. As more of our communications become direct to audience, we need to be experts in the science of how people think, behave and make decisions. Having recently completed an Executive MSc in Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics (LSE), I combine this academic insight with my 10+ years’ experience in communications to create communications that help people make better decisions and change behaviour.
Matt set-up and leads H+K Smarter, Hill+Knowlton’s behavioural insights and strategies team. Combining the latest behavioural science thinking with robust research capabilities, H+K Smarter helps clients create theory-backed and evidence-based campaigns that truly understand and influence their target audiences. Matt created the SMARTER™ communications model which provides both a framework for analysing audience behaviour and a toolbox from which to influence it.
Matt was previously head of the H+K’s Financial + Professional Services team and is a senior communications adviser with over 10 years’ experience helping businesses build, enhance and protect their brands. He specialised in creating strategic programmes for large global brands facing complex and challenging issues and advised CEO’s and board members as well as communication teams.
Matt has an established network of academic, research and business partners which H+K draws upon for client projects.
